Meringue Kisses

Try serving these with raspberry sauce or chocolate dipping sauce. Makes 24 meringue kisses.


2 egg whites, at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar


1. Preheat an oven to 200F.
2. Butter and flour a large baking sheet.
3. In a large bowl beat the egg whites with an electric mixer on high speed until they hold soft peaks.
4. Gradually add the sugar until they hold stiff glossy peaks.
5. Drop heaping teaspoonfuls of meringue onto the baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
6. Bake in the middle of the oven for 45 minutes or until lightly golden and stiff to touch.
7. Turn off the oven and leave the meringues in there for 1 hour or longer.
8. With a metal spatula remove the meringues and place on a cooling rack to cool completely.
9. Keep in an airtight container for no longer that 5 days.
